Big Brother Never Came to Be

M. Stanley Bubien

The "Big Brother" Orwell envisioned never came to be.

To celebrate this fact, the United States President instated a national holiday---a "holy day of obligation" as it were. On this day, as custom dictates, together we stand, side-by-side, arm-in-arm, hand-in-hand. Once so enjoined, we cry joyfully at the top of our lungs, "I AM AN INDIVIDUAL!" Repeating the refrain on into the night.
